PADI Advanced Open Water Course
The Advanced Open Water Diver Course continues from the Adventure Diver rating. Students may also move directly to this level from Open Water Diver. Move on to your choice of Specialty diver ratings, Rescue Diver, and then Professional or Master Scuba Diver ratings!
|
Junior Level - age 12 or above. Standard Level - age 15 or above
|
Prerequisite:
| Age requirement and medical evaluation (a physician's medical for diving fitness may be required depending on your medical history). Paperwork can be completed in advance or at course registration. PADI Junior or Standard Open Water Diver or Adventure Diver certification, or an equivalent rating is required for this course. |
Course outline:
| Course does not include materials. It is recommended, but not required, that students own some or all of their own equipment, as familiarity with personal gear improves general diving skills. In addition to SCUBA equipment, a knife, depth gauge, compass, timing device, and dive tables are all required for this course. For the Elective Night Dive students must have their own light, backup light and whistle. These items may be rented if students do not yet wish to purchase them. These items are standard equipments for all subsequent courses. |
Advanced Open Water Diver rating includes five dives. If upgrading from Adventure Diver, the student need to complete the two core dives - Deep and Navigation. If moving straight from Open Water Diver, the student must complete the two core dives and may choose from the list of electives.
|
This certification is valid for life; however, it is recommended that you keep your diving skills up to date. If you're not able to dive often, ask your instructor about refresher sessions or SCUBA Tune-Ups!
Junior Diver ratings can be upgraded after the diver's 15th Birthday by paying a registration fee and processing a new card, or by taking the next course and automatically upgrading with the new certification. Some depth and supervision limitations apply to Junior Diver ratings.
